The Guardamar parking map
Guardamar leads two lives. From September to June it’s one of the easiest towns on the coast: todo gratis, big car parks and space even in the centre. In summer the story changes: the zona azul switches on (15 June to 15 September), the seafront fills up and it pays to know two or three car parks. The two fixed dates in the calendar: the Wednesday street market, which takes over the La Redona car park, and the beaches behind the dunes, each with a trick of its own.
Where to park for free in Guardamar del Segura
In Guardamar the blue zone only exists from 15 June to 15 September, and only on the beach access roads. All of these are free all year — with one warning about Wednesdays.
Option 2: Era de la Madaleneta car park
Surfaced, with marked bays, at the southern entrance to the town. The wild card that nearly always works, Wednesdays included.

Where to park in a paid car park in Guardamar del Segura

Option 1: Underground car park in the centre (Ingepark)
Under the centre, next to the plaça de la Constitució, with around 240 spaces. The option under cover when the August sun really bites.

The blue zone that only exists in summer
The rule is simple: from 15 June to 15 September, the blue zone operates every day — Sundays included — from 10:00 to 20:00, with a maximum of 4 hours per vehicle. You pay at the machine or from your phone (ElParking and compatible apps); the exact tariff is shown on the machine itself. The rest of the year there’s no charge: those same blue-painted streets are free.
And here’s the surprise almost nobody gets right: Guardamar’s blue zone is not in the centre — it’s concentrated on the beach access roads. The list (local guides, consistent with the official hours in the app): the entire perimeter of the Benamor development, the avinguda de la Llibertat from Benamor down to calle Paraguay (the road down to Moncayo) and carrer Enginyer Codorníu (the access to Babilonia), including its cul-de-sacs. All drawn on the map. In the old town, parking is free all year — and wherever there’s a machine, the signs are what count. And second: between 2021 and 2024 the bays were painted sin que se cobrara, and the service came back in summer 2024 — if a local tells you “you don’t pay for that”, they may be remembering those years.
Wednesday market day
Guardamar’s street market sets up every Wednesday from 8:00 to 14:00 on the La Redona car park itself, next to the Santa Ana industrial estate. On that day the town’s big car park simply doesn’t exist: the surrounding streets fill up between 9:30 and 11:00, so either you arrive early, or you fall back on the Era de la Madaleneta and walk 10 minutes, or you go straight to the underground car park in the centre. From 14:00-15:00, once the stalls pack up, it goes back to being a car park.
Where is it easy (and where hard) to park?
- 🔴 The seafront in summer: blue zone from 10 to 20 and heavy turnover. Better to park inland and walk through the pines.
- 🟠 The old town and the climb to the castle: narrow streets — park below and walk up (10 min).
- 🟢 La Redona and Santa Ana: hardly ever let you down… except on Wednesday mornings (market).
- 🟢 The whole town from October to May: free, with room. The easy version of Guardamar.
Where to park depending on your plan
For the castle and the old town
La Redona leaves you about 350 metres from the foot of the climb; the Era de la Madaleneta is at the other end of the old town. Don’t try to drive up: the upper streets are narrow, with no obvious way out.
For Centre beach and La Roqueta
In summer, the easy thing is to pay the blue zone on the front if you find a space (4 hours maximum). The smart thing: leave the car towards the parc Reina Sofía or the centre and walk through the pine wood — the shade goes with you all the way to the sand. Out of season, park wherever you like: it’s free.
For els Vivers beach and Babilonia
The drive in along Enginyer Codorníu is blue zone in summer. The alternative locals use: the green corridor clearing, by the river mouth, and a flat 10-12 minute walk through the pines.
For Moncayo beach and les Ortigues
The unsurfaced clearing behind the dune charges around €3 a day in season — and the roads down are blue zone, so the clearing usually works out better if you’re staying all day. Further south, les Ortigues is the beach you walk to: the quietest in the municipality.

The market takes over the La Redona car park itself from 8:00 to 14:00. That day: arrive before 9:30, or use the Era de la Madaleneta (a 10-minute walk) or the underground car park in the centre. In the afternoon, La Redona goes back to being a car park.
Can you park free near the beaches?
Yes, with a walk: the river green corridor for els Vivers (10-12 flat minutes) and the area around the parc Reina Sofía or the centre for Centre beach (through the pine wood). In the middle of August, the earlier the better. Out of season, the access roads are free.
Is the Moncayo clearing worth it?
If you’re staying all day, usually yes: around €3 for the whole day, against the blue zone on the access roads (4 hours maximum). It’s unsurfaced and there’s no shade: bring a sunshade.
Do blue badge holders have to pay?
Spanish national law (RD 1056/2014) allows parking in regulated zones with the card clearly displayed; the specific conditions in each town are set by its own by-law — if in doubt, ask the warden or the council. Always display the card. A UK blue badge is recognised in Spain.
