El Campello is one of the easy ones: sin zona azul de calle, with car parks spread about — the big western one, the Muchavista ones, the north village one — and only one genuine hotspot: the playa urbana y el puerto on summer evenings. The master move here isn’t about parking in El Campello, it’s about NOT parking in Alicante: car free by the tram stop and into Alicante in 25 minutes.
Where to park for free in El Campello
El Campello has no blue zone, and it does have a trick worth its weight in gold: park free next to the tram and you’re in Alicante in 25 minutes without fighting the city centre.
Option 2: Main western car park (by the tram stop)
Around 10,400 m², the town’s big reserve, and the basis of the tram trick: leave the car here free and take the tram into Alicante. If you’re heading into the city on an August day, this saves you the misery.

For the northern coves, past the Illeta tower. Quieter swimming and less space, so it pays to go early.

Two adjoining sites, around 6,600 m², behind the Muchavista promenade. This is the long beach that runs into San Juan: there’s nearly always something left here.

Where to park in a paid car park in El Campello
Only one paying site is on record, and it’s at the harbour.
Option 1: Marina car park
The only paying site we know of, next to the yacht club and the tower. Handy if you’re going to the harbour and don’t want to circle; for the beach, with all the free space next door, it isn’t worth it.

A blue zone in El Campello? There isn’t one
We checked it three ways — the payment apps (no El Campello page), the local press and guidebooks — and the answer is the same: there is no street blue zone on record in El Campello. Aparcar en la vía pública es libre, y lo único que manda es la señalización puntual de cada calle (vados, esquinas, carga y descarga). El único recinto con tarifa que hemos localizado es el del puerto deportivo, next to the yacht club. If the council brings in a regulated zone in future, we’ll update this guide.

The tram trick (and the Illeta tower)
El Campello is the last stop on tram lines L1 and L3: leave the car free in the big western car park — a step from the stop — and you’re in the centre of Alicante in about 25 minutes, with no tolls, no €20-a-day car parks and the journey home already sorted. It’s the best unofficial park-and-ride in the area. And before you go, don’t skip the Illeta tower: a 16th-century watchtower standing over the Iberian-Roman site, with the fishing harbour and its market hall alongside — north village car park and a walk.
Where is it easy (and where hard) to park?
- 🔴 The Carrer la Mar seafront in summer: at midday, impossible — use the car parks and walk.
- 🟠 The harbour on summer evenings: paying car park or north village.
- 🟢 Muchavista and the west: kilometres of space nearly always.
- 🟢 All year round, no ticket machines: El Campello doesn’t charge for street parking.
Where to park depending on your plan
For Carrer la Mar beach
North village car park or the western one, then a 5-8 minute walk. In August, forget the seafront.
For Muchavista
Its north car parks or the promenade itself (it goes on for miles). The most forgiving spot in the whole municipality.
For the harbour, the fish market and the tower
North village for free, or the harbour car park if you’re going out to dinner and want the door right there.
For heading into Alicante
Big western car park + tram: 25 minutes to the centre. The combination that makes El Campello the best car park in Alicante.

Frequently asked questions
Where can you park for free in El Campello?
Almost everywhere: there’s no blue zone. The useful car parks: the big western one (by the tram), north village, Muchavista and La Coveta. The signs on each street still apply.
Is there a blue zone in El Campello?
Not that we can find: no page on the payment apps, no by-law published and no news of one being introduced (checked three ways). If one ever arrives, we’ll say so here.
How does the tram trick work?
Park free in the big western car park, next to the El Campello stop, and take the L1 or L3: central Alicante in about 25 minutes. Ideal for shopping trips, the Hogueras festival or a match.
Where do I park for dinner at the harbour?
The paying marina car park (right on the doorstep) or the north village car park and a 5-minute walk. In August, arrive before 21:00.
And for Muchavista in August?
The car parks at the north end of the promenade, or the Muchavista road itself: it spreads people out so well that there’s nearly always a space less than 5 minutes from the sand.
Can I park a motorhome?
Parking yes, wherever it fits and the signs allow; camping no. To stay overnight, look for a designated area nearby.
With a blue badge?
With no regulated zone, what applies is the reserved disabled bays by the beaches, the harbour and the centre (RD 1056/2014). Always display the card. A UK blue badge is recognised in Spain.
